Strange that the Symphony is conducted by Kempe since RD also recorded the New World with Jascha Horenstein and the RPO.
ReplyDeleteHi Gerald, RD owned several recordings of various parts of the New World Symphony, but according to their database, Horenstein only recorded the 2nd Movement (largo). This may be inaccurate, but the compiler would not have had anything but the database to refer to at the time. If you know on what release the whole Symphony appears, please let me know.
DeleteIt is strange that they recorded it twice complete, but they did - both issued on various LPs and CDs
ReplyDeleteMany recordings were duplicated by RD over the years (not always successfully!).
