When Charles Gerhardt passed away in February 1999, I thought that such a great man, so instrumental in the success of Reader's Digest music, should be suitably remembered in the form of a series of music colllections. Unfortunately, I only managed to release one of these officially, but I do have others that I created for my own memories. Charles had been involved in RD since 1960, as planner, producer, supervisor and arranger, bringing together some of the leading conductors and artists of the time in exclusive recordings for the company. Not only that, but on the few occasions that I met him, I found him to be and incredibly intelligent, friendly and humourous human being.
