Although 'Great Ladies Of Song' had been very successful, I always felt that it had been restricted by firstly being limited to females, and also that the music had been a little too wide ranging. This set was planned to be the natural progression to the 'Ladies' collection, and would correct those 'faults'. As it turned out, the widening of the gender, and the narrowing of the music style was not what the public wanted, and this sold many copies less than the aforementioned set. The design was taken from the same photo shoot as the 'Ladies' one (if you recognise the singer on the front cover?), and the (in my view, pointless) addition of a 'relaxing' flowing river at the bottom of the picture was said to increase the relaxation feel of the collection.
Due for initial release towards the end of 2001, the collection was delayed somewhat, as the design for the poster, originally portrayed the New York skyline, with the twin towers of the World Trade Center, prominently featured across the poster. After the '9/11' attack, it was thought that this should be changed.
